It’s been almost 50 years (January 1977).I had just completed my 1,000 mile-plus-minus
drive from Candler, NC to Fort Worth, TX. It was Texas cold that night with snow already covering
the ground. I parked my 1970 Chevrolet in front of the Rotunda of the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. I entered that imposing building and stood on a marblelike floor reflecting an inlaid map of the world. So far as Southwestern was concerned, that said it all. It was a seminary whose objective was reaching the entire world for the Lord Jesus Christ. Why? Because Lostness is the greatest problem in the world.Lostness speaks simply (yet thoroughly) of a relationship between mankind and a Holy God that was lost in the Garden of Eden when Adam and Eve sinned.
It wa s restored however, when the Lord Jesus Christ died on the Cross for the sins of all the world. Neither church membership, baptism or good, clean moral living can achieve this restored relationship the Bible calls Salvation. Only a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. All other problems are temporary and will be resolved upon our deaths. Lostness is eternal and must be
resolved before our deaths. This commitment of the Southern Baptist Convention to reach the peoples of the world from every tribe, nation and color was emphasized again to me just
last month. In September my wife and I attended the Commissioning Service of our son, Seth, by the International Mission Board in Richmond, VA. He will be deployed on October 14 to Malaysia to
work with and minister to the Deaf population in that corner of the world. The International Mission Board (IMB) of the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) however, is committed to reaching the entire world. Reaching as many people as possible by as many means as possible.Their work is noteworthy. The population of the world is some 8,227,628,716. This number increases daily by  some 238,485. Of these numbers, some 160,101 people are dying daily. Only God Himself knows how many of these have a personal relationship with Him and are indeed ready to die and to live eternally in Heaven with Him.

In response to these statistics the IMB operates in 155 countries with some 3500 missionaries.
The available 2025- 2026 reports to date are: Some 2,066,251 have heard a partial or full presentation of the Gospel;196,479 have made a decision to follow Jesus Christ as Lord and
Savior: 29,937 have been baptized and 7697 new churches have been started. Amen! The problem of Lostness has been solved by all the people these numbers represent. What about you?
Many years ago when Billy Graham preached in Australia, a lady responded with the following
article sent to a Melbourne newspaper: After hearing Dr. Billy Graham on the air, viewing him on television and reading reports and letters concerning him andhis mission, I am heartily sick of
the type of religion that insists my soul (and everyone else’s) needs saving-whatever that means. I have never felt that I was lost. Nor do I feel that I wallow in the mire of sin, although repetitive preaching insists that I do.Give me a practical religion that teaches gentleness and tolerance,
that acknowledges no barriers of color or creed, that remembers the aged and teaches children of goodness and not sin. If in order to save my soul I must accept a philosophy as I have recently heard preached, I prefer to be forever damned. Chilling words from someone (who as of that writing) had made their decision about Lostness. I hope you will consider what I’ve written. I hope you will begin a personal relationship with the Lord  Jesus Christ (if you haven’t already). I hope you will discover in a life changing way that no oneknows you better and no one loves you more than the Lord Jesus!
